Dr. George Hloupis is Assistant Professor at Electrical and Electronics Engineering Department in University of West Attica. He holds a B.Sc in Electronics Engineering in 1996 from TEI of Athens, M.Sc in Data Communications Systems in 1999 from Brunel University, B.Sc in Energy Technology in 2003 from TEI of Athens and Ph.D in Seismological Signal Processing in 2009 from Brunel University.

His areas of expertise are the Early Warning Systems, real time data processing and signal analysis using non-linear methods. He worked as researcher in the design, implementation, configuration, administration, development and upgrading of Hellenic Seismological Network of Crete (HSNC). He has extended research experience in design and development of embedded measurements systems oriented in environmental data collection, in development of prototype and application specific data analysis methods, in processing of complex problems under parallel computing systems and in the design and development of modern telemetry and wireless sensor networks. He also develops tools and methods for the use of physical computing systems in all levels of education based according to activities that guided from the New technologies and methodologies in Education Unit.

He participated in several national (PEP, EPEAEK, ARCHIMIDIS, THALΕS) and international research projects (INTERREG, SERISK, MILDMAP-MEDIA, MERG, CYCLOPS, TALOS, REWIND) His published research work in international journals, books and international conference proceedings numbers 60 publications.
