Dimos Triantis studied at the National & Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA). He received a BSc in Physics (1975), MSc degree in Electronics (1980) and PhD in Solid State Physics (1983).
In 1989 he was appointed Professor at the Department of Electronic Engineering of the Technological Educational Institution (TEI) of Athens, in the discipline of Semiconductor and Dielectric Physics.
Since 2007 he has been Honorary Professor Associate of the School of Engineering and Design of Brunel University (UK).
During his academic service at the TEI of Athens, he has been Head of the Department of Electronic Engineering (1992 – 1997) and in charge of the Division of Electronics for a number of years. Also, he was a member of the Education & Research Committee of the TEI of Athens (2004-2010), Dean of the Faculty of Technological Applications of the TEI of Athens (2010 – 2013) and member of the standing Quality Assurance Unit (QAU) of the TEI of Athens (2008-2013). From 2012 to 2016 he was the course director of the Postgraduate Programme: MSc in Design and Development of Advanced Electronic Systems and Head of the Electronic Devices and Materials LAB from its foundation in 2001 till 2019.
From October 2013 to February 2016, he served as Vice-Rector of the TEI of Athens.
From November 2016 to March 2018, he served as a full member of the Governing Board of the Hellenic NARIC.
In March 2019 he joined the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering of the University of West Attica as a full Professor.
From March 2018 to August 2019, he has been a member of the Governing Board of the University of West Attica, and as from October 2018, Vice-President of the same Board.
In December 2021 he was awarded the title of Professor Emeritus of the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering of the University of West Attica.
He is currently a member of the Administrative Board of the Greek Society of Experimental Mechanics of Materials.
Professor Dimos Triantis’s research interests mainly focus on the areas of electric properties of materials and electronic devices, and in the detection and study of mechanically stimulated weak electric signals and acoustic emissions. Also, his research work includes new technologies and methodologies in education and student assessment.
Professor Dimos Triantis has been engaged and is currently involved in a number of national and European funded research projects and development/educational programs, in most of them in the capacity of Project Leader.
Professor Dimos Triantis’s has published over 300 research papers in international peer-reviewed journals and international conference proceedings.
